About the episode

Who holds the pen when climate decisions are written? Priscilla and Tamara of the MigRise Climate Academy talk with Dr. Fathiaya Zakari, Ghanaian youth advocate and COP29 African Youth Negotiator, about entering closed rooms and what migrant and diaspora youth can do as allies.

The voice behind the story

Meet Dr. Fathiaya Zakari.

Dr. Fathiaya Zakari

Advocacy and Engagement Officer; COP29 African Youth Negotiator

Dr. Fathiaya Zakari is a leading Ghanaian youth advocate, climate change negotiator, and the Advocacy and Engagement Officer at YEFL-Ghana. She serves as the Co-chair for the EUYouth Sounding Board in Ghana and is an alumnus of the prestigious African Youth Negotiators Fellowship run by the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO). Notably, Fathiaya represented African youth interests on the global stage as an official negotiator at COP29 in Baku, tracking National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Just Transitions.
